Hotels in Santa Barbara
Arts and crafts show up on Sundays, there's a fun zoo south of town, and shopping along State Street and at the Paseo Nuevo shopping center is first rate. A lovely park runs along the ocean, and there's a path for walking or biking that will give you a good workout with never-ending views. The water temperature of the Pacific is usually pretty cool, so if you like your water warm, choose a hotel with a pool too. Many of the hotels on the beach in Santa Barbara overlook the water and make it easy to go for a dip. And of course, wine from the nearby Santa Ynez Valley is excellent too. And if you're a seafood lover, there are plenty of places - many right on the pier - where you can indulge in local crab, lobster, clams, or fish. The weather here is almost always delightful. Looking back from Sterns Wharf at the mountains giving way to the sea, it's easy to understand why so many rich and famous people make this their home. Known as the American Riviera, Santa Barbara is every bit as inviting as its French counterpart with beautiful scenery, inviting sidewalk cafes, and bougainvillea-draped Spanish architecture.
